It should come as no surprise that your significant other’s health habits strongly affect your own. So if your spouse barely stirs from the couch, you’re less likely to stay fit yourself. On the other hand, exercising together will keep both of you stronger and healthier. (Bonus: It also makes your relationship stronger.)

Try this fun “full-body” move with your partner. It gives your shoulders, arms, back and legs a nice stretch, which improves flexibility before or after exercise…

What to do: Warm up with a few minutes of easy walking, then begin by sitting on the floor. Face your partner, and place the bottoms of your feet against his/her feet. Each of you should grab one end of a towel or resistance band. Slowly lean backward, gently pulling the towel or resistance band so that your partner must lean forward until he feels a stretch in his hamstrings. Hold for 10 to 30 seconds, then return to the starting position and have your partner lean back. Repeat the entire sequence three to five times. You can try this exercise with your legs together or spread apart. Or try it both ways, and see which you like best!

Caution: If you’ve had hip or back surgery, check with your doctor before trying this stretch.
