Canker sores are hard little nodes that can develop on your gums, inside your cheeks and on your tongue. No one is quite sure why they happen…usually stress or a reaction to something you ate brings them about. You may think that they are interchangeable with cold sores…but they are not! Unlike cold sores, canker sores don’t come from a viral infection and are not contagious. Since canker sores are usually hidden and rarely harmful, they are hardly worth buying medicine for. But they are quite annoying…and could hang around for a few weeks. So here’s a simple remedy from your kitchen to get rid of them fast…

Dip a regular black tea bag in boiling water just long enough to saturate it. When it’s cooled off slightly, squeeze out most of the water. Apply the damp tea bag to the canker sore for three minutes. You may have to repeat the tea application again once more, but the canker sore should be gone by the end of the day. If the canker sore is very painful or more sores appear, please see your doctor.
