This saline laxative for relief of occasional constipation generally produces results in one to six hours. For adults (12 years of age or older), dissolve one to two teaspoons of Epsom salt in four ounces of warm water and drink it. Take no more than two doses per day.

Caution: Epsom salt is not actually salt, but a naturally occurring pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate.* So the above portion shouldn’t adversely affect anyone on a salt-restricted diet.
