You see it all the thyme on TV…celebrity chefs whisk the leaves off fresh thyme branches like nobody’s business. And then when you try to copy the chef’s breezy harvest technique, the leaves don’t want to cooperate or the branch breaks. You have a tool in your kitchen that will save the day! Here’s what it is…

A fine-mesh strainer! Simply push the bottom end of the thyme stem through a hole in the middle of the strainer…just enough to grab with your fingers underneath…and carefully but forcefully pull the stem through. The leaves will be collected in the strainer, ready to use whole or to be chopped. No more annoying herb-leaf picking.
