March 2015 Checklist

0
  • Fight seasonal allergies: Talk with your physician about starting medication before the pollen season. Increase intake of allergy-fighting foods, including carotenoid-rich sources (apricots, carrots, salmon, spinach, etc.), citrus fruits and purple/red produce. Also helpful: Green tea.
  • Start your garden: Soil can be worked as soon as it crumbles easily and has no ice crystals. Seeds that can be sown early include lettuce, peas, radishes, spinach, cornflowers, poppies and sweet peas.
  • Move clocks forward one hour: Daylight Saving Time begins at 2 am on Sunday, March 8.
  • Get passports in order: Processing may take several months or longer unless you pay extra. Renew passports even if they are due to expire after your return (some countries bar visitors whose passports expire within six months). Government resources: Travel.state.gov/content/passports.html…877-487-2778.
  • Volunteer for the Special Olympics: This year’s World Games will be held from July 25 to August 2 in Los Angeles. Information: la2015.org/volunteer.
