Beware of Ransomware

This scam is ransomware, where a computer is hijacked by malicious software and important data is deleted unless the hacker is paid. A secure backup is a good defense against this attack. It also is important to create a culture of vigilance and security within the workplace to make employees aware that such scams do exist and what they can do to counter such schemes. To make such a culture successful, it is essential that the employer provide training and encourage employee ownership of security protocols and procedures.
