You may already know that short bursts of high-intensity exercise make your body more efficient at burning fat even when you aren’t exercising. Now a new study from Australia shows that adding green tea extract to your exercise routine gives that fat burn an extra boost.

In the study, fat oxidation was calculated in a group of women who exercised intensely for 20 minutes on exercise bikes. The day before each exercise day, half the women took capsules containing green tea extract—the other half got a placebo (cellulose). As you’d expect, both groups showed more fat burned after exercising compared to before…but the women who took green tea extract burned significantly more.

So if you’re struggling to lose your belly, see if green tea extract will help. Like tea better? The amount of active ingredients in the green tea extract was equivalent to about two or three cups of green tea.
