A Letter from Sarah Hiner, President
It seems like only yesterday, but it was more than 40 years ago when my father started a business in our basement with $5,000 and a dream.
At the time, he was 42 years old and had many questions about life—how to be more effective at work…how to manage money…how to save for his three children’s college educations…which foods were healthy and which weren’t. Sound familiar?
The issues confronting most Americans now are the same ones they faced back then, only the ways we do things, and the technology we use to do them, somehow just keep getting more complicated
The problem then was that the information available in the popular media didn’t answer any of these questions. In the rare instances when an article did provide answers, it did so in such a long-winded, confusing way that you had to read it over and over to finally understand what was being said.
Well, Dad didn’t have time to wade through volumes of publications in search of the answers to his questions. He needed the information accurately…concisely…and clearly written. And he needed it fast. And so, Boardroom Inc. and Bottom Line Publications were born.
Today, so many years later, we publish two print periodicals, a growing number of e-letters and dozens of books dedicated to this quest for the best, most useful and easy-to-read answers to the many, many challenges of today’s changing life. Someone recently described our information as being very Internet-like, and I guess it really is. Our quick, easy-to-digest information is perfectly suited for today’s fleeting attention spans and high demand for immediate answers.
In 2005, Dad was honored to be inducted into the Direct Marketing Hall of Fame for the positive contributions Boardroom Inc. and our products have made to the world.
