Have you seen the price of mouthwash lately? Jeez! Here’s a healthful alternative: Buy some dried mint, dried rosemary and fennel seeds (all available at grocery and health-food stores), and make your own mouthwash. For a weekly supply, use one-third teaspoon each of the three dried herbs. Pour one cup of just-boiled water over the mint, rosemary and fennel seeds, cover the cup, and let the mixture steep for 10 minutes. Then strain it. After you strain it, it should be cool enough for you to rinse with it. You might also want to swallow a little if you have a touch of heartburn—this herbal combination also can help with indigestion. Refrigerate leftovers (which, covered, will hold the breath-freshening power for about a week).
