Swollen Feet and Ankles


One of the most common complaints that Dr. Johanna Youner, board-certified podiatric surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, hears from patients is that their feet and ankles are swollen. In this video, Dr. Youner explains how to treat and prevent this swelling. Compressive socks or stockings can be worn to combat and prevent swelling. Also, elevating the feet at night—above the heart if possible—and gentle lymphatic self-massage aimed at pushing fluid back up to the heart can be helpful.
