We love fancy coffee drinks…but not on our living room rug! Here’s how to get coffee or tea stains out of your carpet.

Blot up as much of the spill as possible, as quickly as possible. Then pour on club soda and blot. Then more club soda and more blotting. If the stain isn’t fading fast, pour on a bit of 3% hydrogen peroxide to cover the stain and let it stay on for about 15 minutes. (Be sure to test an unseen area before using peroxide since it can yellow some materials.) Then blot and rinse with either more club soda or some cold water.

If you don’t have any club soda, try foamy shaving cream. Work a heaping tablespoon into the stain, then rinse with club soda (oops! Wait…you don’t have any). Ok, use cold water instead.
