If snowfall is so heavy that you cannot see, pull over to the side of the road as quickly as you safely can. Keep your seat belt on in case you get hit from behind. Do not attempt to drive through snowdrifts — your car might become stuck or you might hit something hidden underneath the snow. Avoid driving during the first snowstorm of the season. Many drivers, lulled by months of good weather, fail to drive as conservatively as they should. Helpful: Polarized sunglasses can reduce glare and improve visibility in a blizzard.
