It offers a chance to see animals that hide during the day, such as owls, deer, coyotes, flying squirrels and bobcats. Contact your local parks department to find out about scheduled night hikes. If it does not have any, ask whether one can be added to activities. Or check “local” on the Sierra Club’s Web site, sierraclub.org, for hikes and other outings.Note: Hikers should go with a guide at night and stay in groups to scare away animals that could be dangerous.
