Ice, snow and other slick cold-weather surfaces are coming soon, and this tip will help keep you free from falls…

Mix one-half cup of clean sand into about two cups (one-half a quart can) of any kind exterior paint, and paint your steps (concrete or wood) with it. The sand in the paint will offer some traction when the steps are icy or wet.

If you are going to paint the steps, consider painting them white so they’re easier to see on dark nights, especially when your outside light burns out.

The above suggestions are just a little something extra to guide your way up on slippery inclines. You still need to be careful!
