We love this time of year when hanging plants and terrace flowers burst into their fresh spring glory. But often tiny bugs infest our beautiful greenery…and we hate to use toxic chemicals. This is what we do to keep the invaders away…

This potent formula gets rid of spider mites, whiteflies and aphids. In a blender, purée three cloves of garlic and two teaspoons of Tabasco sauce. Add one pint of plain water and two tablespoons of liquid dish detergent. Strain the mixture into a spray bottle and spritz the infected plant’s leaves. When we first get a new plant, we lightly spray it with this formula.
