When you have cookies or cake or any dessert that would be more complete with some chocolate detailing on top, use semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips. You won’t have to chop up a big chunk to melt. Pour one-half cup of chips into a one-cup glass or ceramic container and add a pat of butter (about one-half tablespoon). Cover loosely with a piece of wax paper or folded paper towel, and microwave for 30 seconds on high. Stir chocolate into a smooth, glazelike consistency. Carefully spoon the melted chocolate into a resealable plastic bag and cut a tiny hole in a bottom corner. Now you’re ready to squeeze out the chocolate into a detailed design.
