An encore career is one that people take on after they have retired or otherwise finished their primary occupation. Adriane Berg, founder of Generation Bold and author of Bottom Line’s Aging for Beginners blog, is careful to distinguish between people who need to take on an encore career for financial reasons…and those who want to continue working for personal fulfillment. If money is a concern in retirement, consider a flex-time or part-time job that offers extra income. If you would simply like to work, consider if there is a passion you would like to pursue. It may take some research and creativity, possibly even volunteering in your new field of interest. But whether it’s for money, love or, even better, both, an encore career can provide a new path later in life.
