Kristin Neff, PhD, is an associate professor of human development, culture and learning sciences in the educational psychology department at The University of Texas at Austin. She is cofounder and board president of the nonprofit Center for Mindful Self-Compassion and author of Self-Compassion: The Proven Power of Being Kind to Yourself. She also is featured in the award-winning documentary and book The Horse Boy: A Father’s Quest to Heal His Son, a chronicle of her family’s journey with autism.
