Rick Smith, PhD, executive director of the Broadbent Institute, Ottawa, Ontario, a progressive Canadian think tank, and former executive director of the nonprofit Environmental Defence Canada. Dr. Smith is the coauthor, with Bruce Lourie, of Slow Death by Rubber Duck: The Secret Danger of Everyday Things and Toxin Toxout: Getting Harmful Chemicals Out of Our Bodies and Our World.
