Thomas Joiner, PhD, the Robert O. Lawton Distinguished Professor of Psychology at Florida State University and director of the Laboratory for the Study and Prevention of Suicide-Related Conditions and Behaviors, both in Tallahassee. Dr. Joiner has been awarded the Guggenheim Fellowship and the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Residency Fellowship and is the author of Why People Die by Suicide and Myths About Suicide.
