Organic milk costs more than the conventional stuff, but it’s a small price to pay for a healthier heart.

In a recent study, when the nutritional content of 384 samples of organic and conventional whole milk from around the country was analyzed, the organic milk had 62% more omega-3 fatty acids and 25% less omega-6 fatty acids than conventional milk.

A balance of omega-3s and omega-6s is essential for heart health. Most of us could use more omega-3…and less omega-6…in our diets.

Why there’s a difference: Organic-fed dairy cows spend more time grazing on pasture grasses (which contain omega-3s) than do cows used to produce conventional milk.

You probably are already familiar with omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, but are you getting enough omega-7?
