You bite down on your usually reliable teeth and there it is, a shooting pain that now won’t go away. Until you get to the dentist for the drilling, filling and billing, try this remedy to ease the toothache pain: Make a cup of stronger-than-usual sage tea, which means steeping a tablespoon of dried sage leaves in a cup of just-boiled water for five minutes. If your teeth are not sensitive to “hot,” hold the hot tea in your mouth for 30 seconds, then swallow and take another mouthful. (Let the tea sit and cool to lukewarm if the heat makes the pain worse.) Keep doing this until you finish the cup of tea, and by then, you should have no more pain.
