If you have roses or other woody-stemmed flowers such as lilacs, camellias or tulips, extend their life by placing them in a vase with hot (not boiling) water. That way, the stems will expand, making it easier for water to feed the buds and blooms.
Another idea: Roses seem to love salt. Add a pinch of table salt to their water, and they’ll stay fresher longer.
