Oops! You just dumped a bunch of salt in your homemade stew (or soup or dressing or anything with wet ingredients) that already contained salty ingredients. Now it tastes like a big pretzel. Here’s what to do…

If a dish is oversalted, gradually add one-half teaspoon of distilled white vinegar and one-half teaspoon of sugar to the food. Do a taste test, and if it’s still too salty, add another round of vinegar and sugar. Keep tasting and adding until the saltiness has been neutralized. Be sure to measure carefully so your dish doesn’t go from too salty to too sweet and vinegary!
