David Austin

David Austin, program manager for Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events, a component of the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) Center, an active-shooter response training curriculum developed by Texas State University. The ALERRT curriculum has been adopted by at least nine states and is considered the national standard by the FBI. Austin also is a Hays County deputy sheriff and previously spent 29 years in the Austin, Texas, police department, where he rose to the rank of patrol supervisor.
